Regulatory Alert: FAA Releases $1.1 Billion in FY26 AIP Grants for Projects at Over 382 Airports

July 1, 2026

This afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released a list of nearly $1.1 billion in infrastructure grant awards as part of the fiscal year 2026 (FY26) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), including $640.4 million in entitlement grants and $451.2 million in discretionary grants. The grants awarded today will fund a variety of projects at over 382 airports, including construction and improvement of airport facilities, repairs to runways, taxiways, and aprons, and purchasing equipment needed to operate and maintain airports.

The AIP grants released today were made available by the $4.0 billion in “regular” AIP funding that Congress provided in February as part of the FY26 DOT/FAA spending bill. Today’s announcement is the fourth major release for the FY26 AIP cycle and brings the total amount of FY26 AIP grants awarded to about $2.05 billion. FAA will need to announce another approximately $1.7 billion over the next several months.

Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Program Updates: In a separate announcement today, FAA released a list of $684.3 million in Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) Program grants for projects at over 269 airports. To date, FAA has made available about $14.45 billion in FY22 through FY26 AIG allocations. Of that amount, airport sponsors have committed nearly $10.0 billion of those allocations to specific projects. Approximately $4.5 billion remains available to sponsors.
