Airport Alert: Rodney Scott Confirmed as CBP Commissioner

June 18, 2025

This afternoon, the Senate confirmed Rodney Scott as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner. Scott is a career law enforcement professional who served for over 29 years in the United States Border Patrol, which is part of CBP. He was the 24th Chief of the Border Patrol from February 2020 through June 2021 before retiring.

During his confirmation hearing in March, Senators expressed mixed opinions about Scott. While Republicans were supportive, Democrats were not. His confirmation vote of 51-46 reflects this divide.

We expect Scott will be sworn in shortly. He will be the seventh confirmed CBP Commissioner since DHS was formed, and the first to rise through the ranks from a Border Patrol trainee to Commissioner.
