Airport Alert: Global Entry Resumes at Airports; AAAE Continues to Press for an End to the DHS Shutdown
March 11, 2026
According to multiple press reports, Global Entry resumed operations at 5 a.m. ET this morning. Global Entry portals and mobile applications are now operating at airports nationwide. This expedited border entry process for prescreened, low-risk trusted travelers was halted on February 22, 2026, because of the DHS funding impasse.
AAAE has repeatedly pressed CBP and DHS to restore Global Entry services because this automated technology decreases traveler wait times and permits more CBP officers to focus their efforts to screening unknown or higher risk travelers. AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli “applauded the reopening of Global Entry to help facilitate the processing of international passengers and urged an immediate end to the DHS shutdown.”
Although Global Entry has been turned back on, travelers may still see longer than normal wait times at some airport security checkpoints while the shutdown continues because Transportation Security Officers are continuing to work without pay. AAAE President and CEO Hauptli stressed that “funding must be restored as soon as possible to ensure that TSA screeners and other key personnel are paid for the critical work they do every day.”
AAAE has joined with the U.S. Travel Association, Airlines for America, and other travel groups as part of a campaign to pay federal aviation workers.
